About Me

Shobo is a Nigerian-American storyteller dedicated to crafting grounded, emotionally rich characters and stories that resonate across cultures and mediums.

In 2014, he co-created and Kickstarted Outcasts of Jupiter, an African futurist graphic novel developed with his brother, artist Shof Coker. Its critical and commercial success helped launch his career as a writer.

Shobo has since co-created several acclaimed comic series, including New Masters (Image Comics), a sci-fi epic set in a future Lagos under alien colonization; Buckhead (BOOM! Studios), a supernatural techno-thriller rooted in Yoruba mythology; and Bronze Faces, a Nigerian revenge-heist story about reclaiming stolen heritage from Museums across the globe. In 2019, he was awarded the Creators for Creators Grant, a $30,000 prize selected by top comics professionals.

From 2020 to 2023, Shobo worked as a narrative designer at Harebrained Schemes, where he contributed to The Lamplighters League, a pulp adventure RPG praised for its dynamic dialogue system and richly developed characters.

In 2024, he was tapped by Jordan Weisman to serve as Creative Director at Endless Adventures Inc., building a new indie game studio in the Asia-Pacific region from the ground up, and overseeing new projects.

In 2025, he worked on Electronic Arts and Cliffhanger Games’ Untitled Black Panther Project, developing culturally grounded dialogue, lore, and world-building for Wakanda’s open world.

Shobo tells stories about belief, identity, and power through characters shaped by history, myth, and the worlds they inherit. He lives in Prague and spends his free time reading comics, playing games, and researching Yoruba mythology, cosmology, and history.
